The Telegram Open Network (TON) blockchain is back online after experiencing a disruption that halted block production for several hours. On August 28 at 05:30 AM UTC, the TON Foundation announced on its X page that block production had resumed and the network was fully operational.
Data from the TON transaction scanner, Dton.io, confirmed that the blockchain was producing new blocks again, with the network tallying 231,879,089 blocks at the time of the update.
This recovery followed a two-hour period during which the TON Foundation reported a block production disruption due to an abnormal load on the network. The issue was allegedly triggered by unusual congestion from the airdrop of “Dogs,” a new TON-based memecoin inspired by the Telegram community’s culture and spirit.

The Foundation explained that several validators were unable to clear old transactions from the database, leading to a loss of consensus. To resolve the issue, TON Core called on validators to restart at 04:00 AM UTC to reestablish consensus.
The TON Foundation assured users that their transactions would be completed and that no cryptocurrency assets were lost due to the disruption.
