Sunpump, a new memecoin deployer on the Tron Network, has recently surpassed its Solana-based predecessor Pump.fun in both daily activity and revenue.
On August 21, blockchain researcher Adam Tehc reported that Sunpump outperformed Pump.fun in terms of the number of new tokens created and the revenue generated within the last 24 hours. Citing data from Dune Analytics, Tehc highlighted that Sunpump had launched 7,351 tokens, generating $585,000 in revenue, compared to Pump.fun’s 6,701 new tokens and $366,000 in revenue during the same period.
Sunpump’s rapid growth comes just 12 days after its launch on August 9. The platform has already generated over $1.5 million in revenue and seen the creation of more than 25,000 new memecoins. Several of these memecoins have achieved significant valuations, with one trader turning a $1,000 investment into as much as $750,000 on a token called SunWukong. Another token, SunDog, has reached a valuation of $270 million.

The success of Sunpump has been a significant boost for the Tron Network, which generated a record $3.48 million in revenue over the past 24 hours, matching its performance from the previous day, according to DefiLlama. This surge in activity has been further supported by the $10 million Meme Ecosystem Boost Incentive Program initiated by Tron founder Justin Sun.

Additionally, stablecoin issuer Tether minted an extra $1 billion in USDT on the Tron blockchain on August 20. While memecoins have faced criticism for being “destructive” to the crypto industry, Justin Sun remains optimistic about their potential, stating that their success isn’t by chance but rather the result of community-driven efforts that foster enthusiasm and loyalty within the cryptocurrency space.
